
(coleus scutellarioides) Erect branch, fleshly annual herb, leaves are colored, flowers are purplish and numerous.
Folkloric uses: Bruise and sprains; crush or pound leaves and apply over the ankles, waist or affected area for 30 minutes, 3x a day. Use a bondage to hold the poultice in place. For headache;pound leaves and apply over the temples and nape. Mild bleeding of wounds; wash the young leaves, crush and extract the juice. Drop a few drops of the juice directly on the wound. Apply crushed leaves as poultice. For sinusitis;heat fresh leaves over the fire apply while hot over the forehead, twice daily. Decoction of leaves; taken internally, for dyspepsia and stomach pain Also to be used as eyedrops for eye inflammation.
